About
Kitty Rice works in thin layers of oil, depicting themes of hedonism with references from art history woven amongst direct observations from her own life. With an interest in alienation and how it can be found in both isolated gestures or full compositions, she digs into the pigment, revealing tonal maps of figurative scenes. In the work she is exploring the emotions of adjacent bodies who are often disconnected, despite their compositional proximity.
Currently based in south London, she made the switch to painting from textile designing via The Royal Drawing School in 2022.
